John Richard Taylor, Sr., 86, 7 Elmwood, Quincy died Wednesday, December 13, 2000 at 5:00pm in North Adams Home.
He was born December 6, 1914 in Hunnewell, MO, the son of Charles Porter and Vallie Virginia Taylor. On August 16, 1946, he married Mary Feld. She preceded him in death July 31, 2000.
He was a Durham High School graduate. He drove a bus for the City of Quincy before his employment as terminal manager at Dohrn Transportation where he retired in 1978. He was a member of the Baptist faith, Quincy Traffic Club, Noon Kiwanis Club, and the Holiday Rambler Camping Club. He was an avid Quincy High Blue Devil Fan and was a long time parking coordinator at the Thanksgiving Basketball Tournament.
Survivors include a 5 children, Phyllis Graham and her husband Larry, Quincy; John R. Taylor, Jr. and his wife Diana, Charlotte, NC; C. David Taylor, Quincy; Dianna Lynn Taylor, Lake Ozark, MO; Jana Sue Gosney and her husband Dennis, Quincy; 6 grandchildren, Shelly Hultz and her husband Chris, Quincy; Jeffrey Seals, Los Altos Hills, CA; Jennifer Buscher and her husband Bob, Olney, IL; Jessica Taylor, Charlotte, NC; Angela Marie Gosney, Quincy; Andrew William Gosney, Quincy; 5 great-grandchildren, Karma Schild, Quincy; Jacqueline Seals, San Jose, CA; Chinu Hultz, Quincy; Noah and Jonah Buscher, Olney, IL; great great grandchild Emily Taylor Schild, Quincy; brother, Robert Taylor and his wife Helen, Topeka, KS; 3 sisters, Irene Lee, Detroit, Texas; Margaret Dean, Monroe City, MO; Mary Sue Zeiger, Shelbina, MO; nieces and nephews. He also was preceded in death by his grandson Kerry Seals and a brother Roscoe Taylor.
Funeral Services will be held Monday morning at 11:00am in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 4-7pm at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home. Burial in Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association andor the Stroke Club.
