Eddie Dean Large, age 62, of 4430 Slater Dr., Quincy, died Sunday, February 28, 2010 at 7:47 am in his home.
He was born March 8, 1947 in Hannibal, Missouri . He married Sharon Warner in 1970 and she preceded him in death in 1993. He married Celeste Haxel Doellman in Las Vegas, Nevada in 2000. She survives.
He was a Vietnam War Veteran serving in the U. S. Army from 1964 - 1967. He was a lifelong truck driver. He loved fishing and flea market events. Eddie was known as "The Big Man with Little Boots" who loved telling stories and jokes.
Survivors in addition to his wife include 7 step-children, Tammy Dietrich and husband Todd, St. Louis, MO, Chad Doellman, Alton, IL, Chris Doellman and wife Amanda, Dallas, TX, Sgt. Casey Doellman and wife Jan, Camp Lejeune, NC, Brenda, Raymond and Tommie Stierlin, all of Kansas; 8 step grandchildren, Luke and Maria Dietrich, Larah, Maile and Rilea Doellman, Katelyn Locket, Alaura Doellman, and James Stierlin; 3 brothers, Harold W. Smith and wife Darlene, Dennis R. Smith and wife Donna, Rusty Smith and wife Lou Ann, all of Hannibal, MO; 2 sisters, Debbie Wilson and husband Robert, Hannibal, MO, and Peggy Loveall and fiance' Richard, Mt. Hope, KS, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ella Mae Large Smith, a step father, Harold L. Smith, a brother, Michael E. Smith, and a sister, Sandra Smith.
Services: Wednesday, March 3, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with Pastor Nathan Rector officiating
Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery.
Visitation: Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
