Dorothy Irene Blentlinger, age 85, of 1564 N 1403rd Lane, Fowler, died Saturday, March 6, 2010 at 7:30 pm in her home.
She was born August 19, 1924 in Quincy, Illinois the daughter of Louis and Edith Thompson Durst. On February 17, 1945 she married Merle Blentlinger in Quincy, Illinois. Merle and Dorothy just celebrated 65 years of marriage on February 17, 2010. He survives.
Dorothy was a 1942 graduate of Quincy Senior High School. She was employeed at S.S. Kresge and the Quincy Regional Airport. She was a loving mother and a dedicated homemaker. She was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.
Survivors in addition to her husband include; four children, Michael Blentlinger of Moline, IL, Sandy Schenk and husband David of Fowler, IL, Judy White and husband Bob of Princeton, IL, and Nancy Marshall of Springfield, IL; seven grandchildren, Ryan Blentlinger and wife Michelle of Glen Ellyn, IL, Renee Gowgiel and husband Brad of Lisle, IL, Curt Schenk and wife Dawn of Fowler, Jeff Schenk and wife Patty of Quincy, IL, Eric White of Nashville, TN, Mark White of Cynthia, KY, and Andrew Marshall of Springfield, IL; four great-grandchildren, Raquelle and Tyler Blentlinger, Lauren and Kathryn Gowgiel; a sister, Mary Speckhart and husband Albert Jr. of Payson, IL; three brothers, Ed Durst of Quincy, Paul Durst and wife Irene of LaGrange, MO, and Bill Durst and wife Marjorie of Durham, MO, and a brother-in-law, Russell Schultz of Ewing, MO.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Sam Durst and his wife Veta, and her twin, Dale Durst and his wife Betty, a sister, Edith Schultz, and a sister-in-law Dorothy Durst.
Service: A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday, March 10, 2010 in Melrose Chapel United Methodist Church with Pastor Scott Swigart officiating. Burial will be in Quincy Memorial Park.
Visitation: 4 to 7 pm Tuesday at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.
