Joseph Zimmerman

Joseph William Zimmerman, age 93 of 2130 Harrison and formerly of 623 Monroe died March 29, 2010 at 4:45 p.m. in Good Samaritan Home.

He was born May 5, 1916 in Quincy, Illinois, the son of Otto William and Martha Harriet Dunn Zimmerman.

On June 1, 1946, he married Marie Hase in Peoria, Illinois. She preceded him in death on March 5, 1997.

Mr. Zimmerman was owner and operator of Quincy Auto Trim for over 60 years as an upholsterer. He was a graduate of Quincy High School. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII from August 27, 1941 to September 27, 1945. He was a member of Faith Presbyterian Church, the Presbyterian Mariners Group, and a charter member of the Quincy Outdoor Club. He was an avid Cub fan all of his life.

Survivors include 2 sisters, Jennie Mae Kemner and Carlene Kemner, both of Quincy; and nieces and nephews Martha Clynes and her husband William, St. Peters, MO, Bernadine Allen and her husband James, Peoria; Thomas Kemner and his wife Alice, Quincy, Rose Campbell and her husband Thomas, Liberty, IL, and Carlene Boll and her husband Steven, Springfield, IL; and his best friend Pat Lawber, Quincy.

He also was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother and two sisters Hilda Larson and Ardell Musick, and two nephews, Tony and Carl Kemner.

Services: Thursday, April 1, 2010 at 1:00 pm at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with Rev. Rod Bakker and Rev. Kevin McGinnis officiating. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery.

Visitation: Thursday from 12:00 to 1:00 pm at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.
