Terry L. Speckhart , age 64, of 311 Carl Dr., Bloomington, IL, died Friday, October 28, 2011, at 4:20 pm in Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal.
Terry was born March 13, 1947 in Quincy, Illinois, the son of Albert F. and Elsie Kappner Speckhart. He married Linda K. Watters Sept 23, 1972 in Quincy. She survives.
Terry attended Payson Schools and was a graduate of Quincy High School. He was employed with Mitsubishi Motors North America as an associate from 1988 until he retired in 2009.
Terry was one of the original autoworkers and charter members in Normal, IL who helped establish the United Auto Workers Union Local 2488. He was past president of Bloomington/Normal Soccer Club, and during his tenure was instrumental in helping to secure soccer fields for area youth. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, and knife making. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren, cheering his children and grandchildren on at sporting events
Survivors in addition to his wife include four children, Jeff (Beth) Speckhart of Princeville, IL, Tammy (Greg) Andresen of Quincy, Teresa (Mark) Patterson of Quincy, Ryan Speckhart of Pittsburgh, PA, his sister, Viola Schmiedeskamp of Quincy, two brothers, Raymond (Marilyn) Speckhart of Quincy, George (Linda) Speckhart of McMinnville, TN, eight grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews,
Terry was preceded in death by his parents, Albert F. Speckhart and Elsie Speckhart Heitholt and two brothers Albert Speckhart, Jr and Jim Speckhart.
Services: 10:30 am Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at Bluff Hall Evangelical Church, with Rev. Scott Allen officiating.
Burial: Bluff Hall Cemetery
