Irene Mary Budde

Irene M. Budde , age 92, of 2130 Harrison,  died Friday (Nov. 11, 2011) at 4:45 pm in Blessing Hospital.

Irene was born November 10, 1919 in Quincy, IL, the daughter of Henry J. and Caroline Dieker Schmits  She married Lawrence "Joe" Budde on April 21, 1947.  He preceded her in death on April 8, 1991.

Irene attended St. John's Catholic Grade School and graduated from Quincy High School in 1938.  While in high school and before her marriage, she worked for Bueter's Bakery,  King's Drug Store, S.S. Kresege and Halbach Schroeder.  After her marriage, she worked for Quincy Peoples Saving and Loan for 21 years, retiring March 31, 1982. After retiring, she worked for Bergner's in customer service. She was such a people person and still remembered many of her customers from Quincy Peoples many years later.

Irene was an avid bowler and golfer. She was a member of the Church of St. Peter, Good Samaritan Home and Sunset Home Auxiliary, and past president of the PTA at St. Peter School.

She is survived by three children,  Larry (Ann) Budde of Berlin, WI;  Mike (DeAnne) Budde of Quincy; Judy Burrows of Kalamazoo, MI;  six grandchildren, Dr. David (Stacy) Budde of Berlin, WI;  Eric (Becky) Budde of Springfield, IL;  Brian (Shelly) Budde of North Las Vegas, NV;  Julie (Rick) Bridal of Chatham, IL;  Sarah (Jeremy) Deege of Quincy;  and Lauren Burrows of Kalamazoo, MI;  ten great-grandchildren, Alexandra and Luke Budde;  Hannah and Cora Budde;  Ty and Tess Budde;  Ryan and Abigail Bridal;  and Landon and Blaine Deege;  two nieces: Arlene Powers and Joan Schmits; and a nephew, Ronnie Schmits, and good friends Jim and Margaret Pontius.

In addition to her husband Irene was preceded in death by her parents;  four brothers, Gerhart, Walter, Paul and Harold;  two sisters, Marie Klipstein and Helen Brink;  and their spouses.

Services:   Tuesday 10 am Mass at the Church of St. Peter with Rev. Roy Bauer officiating.

Burial: Calvary Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois

Visitation:  Monday 4:00 - 7:00 pm at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with a wake service at 6:30 pm

Memorials: St. Peter School or Good Samaritan Home or Blessing Hospice
