Charles E. "Chuck" Edgar , age 74, of 2011 E. 2200th St., Camp Point, IL, died October 23, 2012, at 9:27 am in Blessing Hospital.
Chuck was born July 21, 1938 in Cuba, Missouri, the son of Isaac and Ella Bland Edgar. He married Jacqueline Ann Greer on August 26, 1977 in Quincy, IL. She survives.
Chuck proudly served in the U.S. Navy from November, 1955 - June 1959, at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Jacksonville, FL. In his younger years he ran a dairy farm and did timber work. Chuck worked as a Histologic Technologist at St. Mary Hospital for over 30 years. The last 10 years of his working career were spent at the Illinois Veteran's Home. He also raised cows and farmed on the side for many years.
In his spare time Chuck enjoyed hunting, fishing, bird watching and gardening. He was also known for taking care of animals and helping people in the community. Although he was a man of many interests and hobbies, spending time with his family was the most important interest he had. One of his greatest joys was going to his children's' and later his grandchildren's' sporting events where he also greatly enjoyed the popcorn. "To the family of Chuck: I want you all to know how honored I feel to have taken care of Chuck for a couple of days while he was in the hoptial. I didn't realize that our families had so many "ties!" I am certain that he is and will be greatly missed. From what I got to know of him, he was truly a kind hearted man. It was very evident to me that he cared for his family very much and his family cared for him very much. I feel very blest to have gotten to know him and his wonderful family. Please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers as you go thru this very rough and difficult time. May God be with you and comfort you as you as He carries you thru the days and years to come."

"Our community lost a wonderful man but Heaven gained a quiet Angel. Chuck always came in with a smile on his face and a hug to be given. I will forever miss you and those hugs. You never failed to listen when I had my "chatterbox" going which was a constant. Rest in peace my dear friend...I will always "love you to the moon and back"....Jackie, my heart aches for you but Im happy to have been given the love that the two of you showed all of us and in turn we will be there for you in your time of heartache! Love and prayers to you all...and Godspeed dear friend!"

"Charles was a great man that I know many people called him "Chuck", but I never could as he will always be known to me as "Charles". I can still recall his Mama calling his name and asking for his advice. She would say, "I don't know, let's ask Charles". Charles held that status in the family all the years I am old enough to remember and I myself asked him for guidance many times. He was wise, non-judgmental in his response to your questions and would say, "Think about it from this point of view". Charles will be greatly missed and please accept my sincere condolences."
