Ralph Frederick Crossan, age 92, of 614 S 22nd, Quincy died Thursday, December 20, 2012, at 5:35 am in Good Samaritan Home.
Ralph was born May 6, 1920 in Quincy, Illinois, the son of Frederick and Caroline Zuckschwert Crossan He married Jeannette Rueter on November 6, 1948 in Trinity United Church of Christ in Quincy. She preceded him in death on May 8th, 2002.
Ralph served in the U. S. Army during WWII where he had tours of duty in the Philippines and New Guinea and received two bronze stars. He was employed by International Shoe Factory and then Motorola for the entire time Motorola was in Quincy where he was supervisor of the shipping department. He joined Harris Corporation and worked until his retirement in 1983. He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ and their Fireside Club. Ralph was a Cub Scout den leader when his children were young. He was an avid reader and loved to tinker. He loved spending time with his family, and he always took them camping since he loved the outdoors.
Survivors include four children, Bruce G. (Sook) Crossan of Burke, VA, Sally (Arthur) Greenbank of Quincy, IL, Jeane (Mark) Anastas of Portland, OR, and Brad (Kelly) Crossan of Quincy, IL; eleven grandchildren, Alessa and Cyrus Crossan of Burke, VA, Arthur (Amy) Greenbank and Robert Greenbank, both of Quincy, Eric Anastas of San
Francisco, CA, Jamie Anastas of Seattle, WA, Tracy Anastas of Portland, OR, Keegan and Kourtney Nesbit of Macomb, IL, and Chase and Reece Crossan of Quincy; a great-granddaughter, Isabella Rose Greenbank of Quincy: a nephew, Richard (Sue) Crossan and a niece, Carolyn "Sue" Ayres, both of Quincy.
Ralph was also preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Caroline Greenbank, and two brothers, Eugene and Wilbur Crossan.
Services: 11:00 am Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with Rev. Timothy A. White officiating.
Burial: Greenmount Cemetery
Visitation: 4:00 pm- 7:00 pm Friday December 21, 2012 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home
