David Robert Kenady, age 58, of Quincy, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 12, 2013, at 1:45 am in Blessing Hospital surrounded by his wife and his two daughters who were so very special to him.
David was born November 18, 1954 in Quincy, Illinois, the son of Robert and Gwendolyn Knox Kenady. He married Kimberly Grimmer Riley on October 18, 2008 in Quincy. She survives.
David was a 1972 Quincy High School graduate, and farmed with his father. He and Dan Long began the Kenady-Long Auctioneers in 1984. He also had been an auctioneer for Hudson Marshall, Inc. of Chicago. He was always donating his time as a charity auctioneer. In 1990 he started working as a realtor and broker for Happel and Schlipmann Real Estate. He was the Riverside Twp Road Commissioner for 12 years. David grew up as a member of Ellington Presbyterian Church. He had been baptized as an adult at the waterfall on the family farm, and most recently was a member of The Crossing. David loved to farm, he loved the outdoors where he also loved to hunt, and he was an avid collector of antiques. During his cancer fight, David was especially appreciative of the people who came to visit him and journey with him, and he always felt that he was receiving great care from the staff at Blessing.

"Kim, and Family, We are so very saddened to learn of David's death. He was such a kind man, and was so helpful to our daughter when she was in nursing school and lived out near David. More than once he plowed her out or went to check on her if the alarm malfunctioned. As parents, it made us feel much more secure knowing that he was near by to help her if needed. We will never forget his kindness. Kim, we think of you and wonder how Ross is doing....he must be quite grown up by now. We extend our deepest sympathy to you and your entire family. Sincerely, Ann and Danny"

"I was so saddened this morning to hear of David's passing. I'm sorry I didn't know about his illness sooner. My deepest sympathy to all of you...I wiil remember him most as a sweet sophomore who liked to hang with the senior girls in high school! And at the auctions too of course. I regret I will be unable to attend his services but pray for peace and comfort for all of you."
"My heart goes out to the Kenady family in their loss of David. As kids at Ellington, we had a lot of fun in Sunday school together, and our family always enjoyed the hospitality we were shown at the Kenady farm home. The loss of our brother, Dan Brinkley, nearly a year ago of cancer, reminds me of the peace I found knowing that the days of his pain and suffering were over, and that his spirit was greeted home with open arms. I pray that you feel the comfort of God's compassion and love during this time of your grief and loss. Rebecca Brinkley - Jefferson City, Missouri"
