James Kevin Rankin, 6 ½ months old, of Mendon, passed peacefully into Heaven at his home, in the arms of his parents, surrounded by his sister Kendra and his loving family on Monday, January 28, 2013 at 6:50 p.m.
James was born July 12, 2012 in Blessing Hospital to Johnny Kevin and Erin Lynn Morgan Rankin.
James touched several lives in his short time here on earth. He attended Calvary Baptist Church with his parents and sister; he was a member of the nursery at the church. He spent the last six weeks in St. Louis Children's Hospital - Pediatric Intensive Care Unit where he was tenderly cared for by the nursing staff and the doctors of Children's Hospital, Washington University Department of Pediatrics and Neurology, and the Children's Hospital Transport Team. We would like to thank everyone for their prayers and support throughout James' life.
James is survived by his parents, his sister Kendra Lynn Rankin all of Mendon, IL, paternal grandparents, J. Kevin (Krista) Rankin of Quincy, maternal grandparents Jim (Linda) Morgan of Memphis, MO, paternal great grandparents, Johnny W. Rankin, Herrin, IL, and Robert (Letha) Hatten of Cameron, MO, maternal great grandparents, Lloyd James (Shirley) Morgan, of Hale, MO and Robert (Phyllis) Ford of Lenexa, KS, aunts Elizabeth Rankin of Carbondale, IL and Amy (Jeremy) Oshner of Quincy, uncles, Rob (Jacki) Morgan of Fulton, MO and Ryan (Sheena) Morgan of Lancing, TN, 6 cousins, Hunter, Haylee, Melody, Marcy, Vincent and Audrey Morgan. He was preceded in death by his paternal great grandmother, Juanita Rankin.
Services: Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 2 p.m. in Calvary Baptist Church with Mr. Gary Kurfman, Rev. Mickey Farlow and Mr. Jeremy Oshner officiating with burial in Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy, IL.
Visitation: Friday, February 1, 2013 from 3-7 p.m. in Calvary Baptist Church.
Memorials: To James Kevin Rankin's Siblings Educational Fund or Donor's Choice.
