Ross Edward Bunch, age 83, of 2535 Lake Drive South, Quincy, died Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at 6:40 am in his home.
Ross was born March 3, 1930 in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Ross C. and Sabula Inman Bunch On June 3, 1951 he married Priscilla Mae Alden in Keokuk, IA. She survives.
Ross was a freelance cartoonist for at least 50 years and a drafting instructor at Quincy Technical School for 25 years. He was an avid reader, especially of medical books and the Bible (which he read completely 17 times).
Ross was a huge fan of the Route 66 TV Series, and a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals. He loved old black and white movies, especially serial cliff hangers and Casablanca.
Ross had served in the National Guard for 15 years.
Survivors include: 3 sons, Michael (Cindy) Bunch of Oklahoma City, OK, Steven (Patti) Bunch, Christopher (Cindy) Bunch, and a daughter, Julie (Cathy Owens) Bunch all of Quincy, IL, 14 grandchildren, Chad (Marissa) Bunch of Florissant, MO, Matthew Bunch, and Adam Bunch both of Springfield, IL, Byron (Shelby) Poindexter of Phoenix, AZ, Gary (Alisha) Poindexter of McCloud, OK, Steven (Melissa) Bunch of Quincy, Jason (Julie) Bunch of Maitland, FL, Joshua Bunch, Shawn Bunch, Scott (Michelle) Bunch, Bradley Bunch, Cara (Corby) Cunningham, Bryan Bunch and Christian Bunch all of Quincy, 19 great grandchildren, Aaron and Aiden Bunch, Gianna Bunch, Byron, Breylynn, Blayne, Hailey and Clayton Poindexter, Shaylan, Savannah and Avery Bunch, Brooklyn, Brendan and Brett Bunch, Addesyn Bunch, Liam Bunch, Corby, Camry, and Cyler Cunningham, 2 nephews, Kirt (Jena) Bunch of Muscatine, IA and Kyle Bunch of Burlington, IA, a sister-in-law, Cecelia Bunch of Muscatine, IA, and his Pomeranian, Brenna
Ross was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Kenneth Bunch.
Services: 11:00 am Saturday, July 6, 2013 at The Crossing 929, with Rev. Jim Dennis officiating.
Burial: As per Ross' wishes his body was donated to the University of Iowa School of Medicine.
Visitation: Friends are invited to a luncheon following the services at The Crossing 929.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Quincy Humane Society or Blessing Cancer Center or the Quincy Public Library

"Dear Mrs. Bunch, I was very sorry to hear about Ross. Steve told me about him a couple of weeks ago. He was a good man and funny along with it. We had a many good laughs when we would see each other. Every time I look at the moon I think of Ross and the man in Black. I have wonderful memories of him and enjoyed working with him QTS.
