Betty Louise "Nanny" Cain, age 86, of 418 Washington, formerly of 823 N. 5th Street, went to be with the Lord surrounded by five generations of family on Tuesday, August 20, 2013, at 5:45 pm in Blessing Hospital.
Betty was born June 11, 1927 in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of George and Theresa Masters Clifford. In 1948, she married Robert A. Cain, Sr. in Quincy, Illinois. He preceded her in death on July 31, 1973.
Betty was a custodian along with her husband and father at Notre Dame for many years. Later in life she was a CNA at St. Mary's Hospital. She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother. She was truly loved by her family.
She was an avid pet lover and supporter of the Quincy Humane Society. She was a member of Bethel Assembly of God. Betty had an artistic flair enjoyed drawing and sketching. She also liked to cook and won awards for her cooking. Betty was a talented singer, and she sang in the U.S.O. during WWII.
Survivors include four children, David Charles (Susan) Clifford, Robert Arthur (Sharon) Cain Jr., Janet K. (George, Jr.) Barton, and Linda Sue (Kenny, Sr.) Franks, all of Quincy, IL; 16 grandchildren, Terri Lynn (David) Thornton, David John (Kathy) Clifford, Paula K. (Richard II) Gregory, Christopher (Samantha) Cain, Shawn (Ashley) Cain, Elvis (Sara) Cain, Buffy Austin, Rob (Trina) Barton, Tina (Ricky) Terstriep, George Barton III, Linda (Dr. Don) Hermens, Kenny A. (Angie) Franks, all of Quincy, Katherine Franks of Kenosha, WI, Kary Lynn Franks of Ursa, IL, Kristina (Michael) Myers of Quincy, and Kurt A. (Jen) Franks of Houston, TX; 54 great-grandchildren; 11 great great-grandchildren; a niece, Cindy Hufford of Quincy, IL; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Clifford of Quincy, IL.
In addition to her husband, Betty was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Roy Clifford.
Services: 2:00 pm Monday (August 26, 2013) at Bethel Assembly of God, with Rev. Neal Moore officiating.
Burial: Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois
Visitation: 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm, Monday (August 26, 2013) at Bethel Assembly of God.
