"My friend, Steve Loos left us with one of our high school tennis memories. he was playing an ambidextrous player from an apposing team and it was giving him problems, as it would anyone. We kept yelling at him to "hit it to his backhand!" It didn't help but was one fun filled memory of him. A good friend. I wish we had stayed in touch."

"My thoughts and prayers are with the Loos family. Steve and I worked together, and played ball together during the late 70's. He was a fixture at our house for a number of years and was always good for a laugh. Hanging out with Mama and Papa "Looch", and holding post-softball game parties at their house are some of my fondest memories. Steve was a great friend. One of those guys who would do anything for you. Both my mother, Cindy, and I have a special place in our hearts for Steve and the Loos family."
Jack Freiburg wrote on Nov 5, 2013:
"Steve and I had great times together in the late 60's and early 70's. I followed him to Illinois State and remember well his roommate there Gomez. I met Steve through another tennis bum of that period, Greg Howerton. Greg has now been gone for more than 25 years.
I did see Steve once in St Croix when I went there for vacation in the 1980's. We had a great time hanging out then too.
My condolences to the Loos family."

"My sincere condolences to the Loos family. Steve was a good friend and team mate on several softball teams "back in the day". I fondly remember his folks -- Momma and Poppa -- showing up for nearly every game to cheer us on. After games, we almost always ended up at the Loos home on Cherry for a barbeque, cold beverage, and great conversation into the night; sometimes way into the night! I'll miss you "Cousin"."

"My deepest condolences to the Loos family. I am extremely sad to read of Steve's passing. I was a classmate of Steve's and a Blue Devil tennis teammate. I spent many summer days and nights with him at Reservoir Park learning to play tennis along with our gang of fellow tennis lovers. As a high school freshman I made the decision to try and play tennis and had it not been for the help and the encouragement of Steve, I might never have stayed with it, played college tennis or gone on to coach Quincy High tennis for almost 30 years. Steve's winning personality and his willingness to help anybody who needed it, made this possible. Many generations of Blue Devil tennis players have been introduced to the "Banana Serve," by me and I always tell them it came from Steve Loos, the number one player on my high school tennis team. He wrote in my high school yearbook, "keep playing tennis man," and I have. God Speed my friend."

"With sympathy to the family and friends of Steve. I have such delightful memories of our adventures traveling to Negril, Jamaica with Jim McNay and Ann O'Brien...oh the stories, the sunshine, the reggae, and the shared friendship. He will remain in my heart."

"So very sad to learn of Steve's passing. He was a good childhood friend, doubles-partner, neighbor (we both grew up on Cherry Street, near the Reservoir Park Tennis Courts).
So many fond memories of the two of us and the tennis "gang" from the late 60's and 70s.
Fortunately I was able to visit with Steve several years back in Quincy... he seemed good, was living then in St. Croix... and it was just like old times visiting with him.
We both used to string rackets and he gave me an old Ashway reel of tennis string and an old tennis "vise" that we used to string wooden tennis frames with and using a hand tensionizer. A reminder of times past, these hang on my basement wall.
My sincere condolences to his family."
