Edla V. Hoenig, 79, 3814 Biscayne, Quincy, died Saturday, November 17, 2001 at 7 pm in her home.
She was born January 10, 1922 in Donnelson, Iowa, the daughter of Leonard Earl and Cora Emma Gaston Elliott. On June 12, 1946, she married Robert K. Hoenig in Wayne Michigan. He preceded her in death on February 25, 1991.
She was an office administrator for various construction firms, and she owned and operated the Westside Park for Mobile Homes in Fort Madison, IA. She was a member of St. Dominic's Catholic Church. Mrs. Hoenig was an active volunteer with the local Arthritis Foundation, and she was a member of AARP. She loved genealogy, reading and embroidery. In her younger years she was an avid motorcyclist.
Survivors include a son, David Hoenig and his wife Kathy of Quincy, 2 grandchildren, Lance Hoenig and his wife Diane of Sanford, Maine, Danielle Hoenig of Quincy, and 2 sisters, Maxine Hughes of Keosauqua, Iowa, and Edith Tweedy of Montrose, Iowa. She also was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 9:30 am in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home and at 10:00 am in St. Dominic's Catholic Church, Rev. Donald Knuffman officiating. Visitation will be Monday evening from 4-6 pm at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with a Prayer Service at 5:45 pm. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Quincy,Illinois. The family will receive friends from 4-6 pm Monday at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation.
