Henry Romberg, 85, of 1212 St. Charles, Quincy, died Sunday, July 28, 2002 at 1:40 pm in Blessing Hospital.
He was born June 6, 1917 in Hannibal, Missouri, the son of William and Myrtle Raney Romberg. On June 10, 1939, he married Verna L. Hemmann in Hannibal, Missouri. She survives.
He was a graduate of Hannibal High School and Hannibal-LaGrange College, and he served his country in the US Army during WWII. He was a draftsman at Wendt-Sonis Tool Company in Hannibal, and then he was employed by Central Fibre (Celotex) Company in Quincy retiring in 1982. He was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, and had been a coach for Midget League Baseball and YMCA Basketball in Hannibal.
Survivors in addition to his wife are 3 children, Allan Romberg and his wife Dorothy, Lincoln, IL; Gayle Eggerstedt and her husband Kim, Shawano, WI; David Romberg and his fiance Teri Lundy, Aurora, CO; 10 grandchildren, Lauren Emme and her husband James; Stephen Romberg and his wife Laura; Nancy Mueller and her husband Steve; Jennifer Bonk and her husband Aaron; Aimee Roth and her husband Carter; Shane Eggerstedt, Amanda Eggerstedt; Lucy Romberg, Brady Romberg and Carolyn Romberg; 6 great grandchildren, Sara Emme, Megan Romberg, Allan J. Romberg, Erin Mueller, Anna Bonk, and Adian Roth; 1 brother, Joe W. Romberg and his wife Evelyn, Port Neches, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister Lillian Herrman.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 am Wednesday, July 31, 2002 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Rev. Larry Troxel officiating. Burial in Grandview Burial Park, Hannibal, Missouri. The family will receive friends from 5:00 -7:00 pm Tuesday at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church or Blessing Foundation for Hospice.
