William Ray Schoonover, 69, died Saturday, August 31, 2002 at 5:55 PM at Blessing Hospital.
He was born September 11, 1932 in Quincy, Illinois, the son of Clyde B. and Cora Lang Schoonover. On February 13, 1988, he married Marilyn Knight Harris in Buffalo City, Arkansas.
Mr. Schoonover was a graduate of Quincy High School and served 3 years in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Lambert Lodge #659, A.F. & A.M. and a member of the Church of Christ. He worked 45 years for Gardner-Denver Company in the shipping and packing department when he designed crates for shipping and packaging.
He is survived by his wife of 14 1/2 years Marilyn Knight Harris Schoonover, his devoted Mother, Cora of Quincy, 2 brothers, Wayne Schoonover and his wife Jeanie, Quincy; Gene Schoonover and his wife Geraldine, Quincy; a sister-in-law, Luella Schoonover, Quincy; his and Mary Ann Flannigan's 3 children: David Schoonover and his wife Margaret Adamic, Pamdale, CA; , Vic Hoener and her husband Rick Perrine, Quincy; , Melanie Knight and her husband Kerry, Bono, AR; 4 grandchildren, Andrea and Ashley Hoener and Samantha and Sabrina Knight; Marilyn's children: Gary Harris, Chandler, AZ; Dan Harris and his wife Suzanne, Mountain Home, AR; and Tonya Gifford Townsend and her husband James, Florida; 3 grandchildren, Kelli Gifford, Adam and Matthew Harris, his Mother-in-law, Nola Knight, Gassville, AR; sister-in-law, Shirley Mershon and her husband Louis, Gassville, AR.
He was preceded in death by his father Clyde Schoonover and a brother Clyde Schoonover, Jr.
Funeral Services will be Wednesday, at 10 AM September 4, at the CHURCH OF CHRIST Minister James Riley officiating. Burial in Mountain Home, Arkansas. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 P.M. Tuesday at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home. Lambert Lodge #659 A.F. & A.M. will conduct Masonic services Tuesday at 7 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Church of Christ. Graveside services will be Friday, September 6, at 10 AM at Tucker Cemetery near Mountain Home, Arkansas.
Active pallbearers will be David Schoonover, Gene Schoonover, Gary Harris, Dan Harris, Ron Durk, Adam Harris. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Schoonover, George Miller, Albert Olivio, Guy King, Gary Skiver, Gene Bradley and Ron Kistner.
