Susan C. Koscielski, 53, of 4700 Pebble Beach Drive, died Wednesday, October 30, 2002 at 9:40 am at the Blessing Hospital.
She was born September 30, 1949 in Hannibal, Missouri, the daughter of T. W. and Dorothy Hanan Bleigh. On November 9, 1974, she married Paul Koscielski in Quincy. He survives.
She was a graduate of Hannibal High School in 1967. She received her Bachelor Degree and Master's Degree from North East Missouri State University and taught in the Quincy Public Schools for 27 years. Sue started at Franklin School where she taught EMH, and then she taught 3rd grade at Adams School, 4th grade at Baldwin South, and EMH at Madison School.
She was a member of Vermont Street United Methodist Church and Wesley Pioneer Sunday School Class. She was a member of various schools' P.T. A. organizations, various special education organizations including the Council for Exceptional Children, and the Quincy Service League. Susan liked to travel and enjoyed the theatre. She loved trips to Chicago for shopping and spending nice summer days at Wrigley Field. Sue loved her family and friends, and especially enjoyed teaching children. The last several years she has spent time compiling The Bleigh Family Cookbook.
Survivors in addition to her husband are her parents of Hannibal; her son, Paul Koscielski, Jr., Quincy; her daughter, Stephanie Koscielski, Chicago; a brother, Tom Bleigh and his wife Jane, Hannibal; a sister, Sharon Bleigh, Marshall, MO; a sister-in-law, Delora Jo "DJ" Koscielski; a nephew, 1st. LT John Bleigh, Schofield Barracks, HI; a niece, Jennifer Bleigh, Streamwood, IL; numerous aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 am Saturday, November 2, 2002 in the Vermont Street United Methodist Church, Rev. David Alberts officiating. Burial in Greenmount Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3-7 pm Friday at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society or the Quincy Foundation for Quality Education.
