Desty S. Hinkamper

Desty S. Hinkamper, 94, of 2259 E 1000th Street, Mendon, died Friday, January 10, 2003 at 2:24 am in the North Adams Home.

She was born May 8, 1908 in Kellerville, Illinois, the daughter of William and Cora Milliron Snyder. On June 27, 1938, she married Russell R. Hinkamper in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Canton, MO. He preceded her in death on November 23, 1976.

She was an excellent seamstress and cook. She loved to bake pies for everyone, especially the firefighters and she loved to garden, she also assisted her husband Russ in the day to day operation of Russ's Tavern at 6th and Chestnut. They were famous for their chili dogs. She was a member of All Saints Parish, St. Rose Catholic Church.

Survivors include 3 sons, Raymond Hinkamper and his wife Rosemary, Quincy; Ronald Hinkamper and his wife Linda, Quincy; Ralph Hinkamper and his wife Debbie, Palmyra, MO; 14 grandchildren, Randall Hinkamper, Quincy, Ricky Hinkamper and his wife Monica, Quincy, Robert Hinkamper and his fiance' Amy, Quincy, Richard Hinkamper, Quincy, Rhonda Jensen and her husband Fred, Quincy, Roy Hinkamper, and his wife Allison, St. Louis, MO, Russell Hinkamper and his wife Anna, Quincy, Robin Cimera and her husband Gary, Dix, IL, Renea Henning and her husband Joe, Quincy, Ryan Hinkamper and his fiance' Sarah, St. Louis, MO, Dean Hinkamper and his wife Melinda, Quincy, Tim Hinkamper, Quincy, Mike Hinkamper, Florida, Rex Hinkamper and his wife Naoko, Japan; and a stepgrandson Jason Rains, Jacksonville, IL 19 great grandchildren, Matt Hinkamper, Quincy Ashley and Ian Hinkamper, Quincy, Megan, and Luke Hinkamper, Quincy Michelle Miller, Quincy, Rachell and Ronnie Hinkamper, Quincy, Serena Cimera, Dix, IL, Nicole and Natalie Henning, Quincy, Rylee Hinkamper, Quincy, Jason, Jessica, Jeremy, and James Hinkamper, all of Quincy, Kelsey and Kyle Hinkamper, Quincy, and Raimu Hinkamper, Japan, and 1 step great granddaughter Hailee Rains, Jacksonville, IL.

She also was preceded in death by her son Rodney Hinkamper, 6 brothers and 3 sisters.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday morning, January 14, at 10:30 am in Hansen-Spear Funeral Home and at 11:00 am in the the All Saints Parish, St. Rose Catholic Church, Rev. John Titus of Springfield officiating. Burial in Calvary Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois. The family will receive friends from 4-8 pm Monday at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home. A wake service will be held Monday at 4 pm at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to All Saints School, QND Football Team, North Adams Home or CYO (Catholic Youth Organization).
