Richard Lee Frakes, 76, 2007 Highway 61, Loraine, died Wednesday, October 22, 2003 at 8:00 pm at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
He was born September 7, 1927 in Birmingham, Illinois, the son of George and Ida Coker Frakes. On August 8, 1952, he married Norma Estes in Macomb, IL. She survives.
Mr. Frakes farmed in the Loraine area for 40 years. He loved his family and his grandchildren and particularly golfing with his sons and grandsons. He also like to coon hunt. Mr. Frakes was generous and was the first to pitch in to help when someone needed something. He was an excellent teacher of life's values.
Survivors in addition to his wife are 2 sons, Richard 'Rick' Frakes and his wife Patricia, DeSoto, IL; Randy Frakes and his wife Gayle, Golden, IL; 6 grandchildren, Heather Frakes, Granite City, IL; Heath Frakes and his wife Katie, Sonoma, CA; Richlyn, Reide, Rhett and Reece Frakes, Golden, 1 great grandson, Titus McKana Frakes, Sonoma; 3 brothers, Ralph Frakes and his wife Carolyn, Plymouth, IL; Roy Frakes and his wife JoAnn, Avon, IL; Roger Frakes, Florida; 1 sister, Marilyn Kay Schone and her husband Richard, Rochester, MN; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Robbie and a sister Florence Huff.
Memorial Services will be 2 P.M. Sunday, November 2, 2003 at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with Chris Dubinick officiating. The family will meet with friends after the service at the Quincy Mall Community Room. Memorial contributions may be made to The Richard Frakes Memorial Fund.
