Julianne "Julie" Arp, age 73, of 1951 Elmwood Dr. East, Quincy, died Tuesday, January 28, 2014, at 5:23 a.m. in Good Samaritan Home.
Julie was born July 26, 1940 in Beardstown, Illinois, the daughter of John Melvin and Bettie Lou McNamara Moore She married her high school sweetheart, Gary Arp, on May 23, 1959 at Vermont Street United Methodist Church in Quincy. He survives.
Julie was a 1958 graduate of Quincy High School. She also graduated from Quincy Beauty Academy, where she earned her cosmetology license. After school, Julie worked as a hair dresser for several different salons, before ultimately opening her own establishment. Julie was a noted and talented Quincy artist, who was well known for specializing in caricatures. Julie and her longtime friend, Sally McCarl, loved Halloween, and they went Trick-or-Treating together every year for 40 years.
In addition to her husband, Julie is survived by: two sons: Jeffrey (Susan) Arp of Paris, IL; and Todd (Brenda) Arp of Shelbina, MO: seven grandchildren; Millie, Stewart, Henry, Shawn, Isaiah, Brianna, and Carly; a sister; Melanie (Michael) Wolf, of Quincy, IL; a nephew; Nicholas Wolf; a niece, Ashley Wolf; a great-nephew, Waylon Wolf; and a sister-in-law; Kay Fisher.
Julie was preceded in death by her parents.
Services: 1:00 pm Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with Rev. Timothy A. White officiating.
Visitation: 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Friday January 31, 2014 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home
Memorials: American Cancer Society or Trinity United Church of Christ
