Earl T. Mowen

Earl T. Mowen,age 83, 800 Shady Acres Lane, Quincy, died Tuesday, March 30, 2004 at 5:55 a m at Blessing Hospital.

He was born February 9, 1921 in Stoutsville, Missouri, the son of Thomas Jefferson and Leta VanHorn Mowen. On December 9, 1943, he married Ethel Mildred Vincent in Palmyra, MO. She survives.

Earl served in the US Army during WWII. Mr. Mowen worked as a carpenter for Heidbreder Bros. for many years. He was a member of Carpenters Union #189 and a former member of the American Legion. He was a member of the Lutheran faith where he was baptized and confirmed.

Survivors in addition to his wife are a son, Thomas Mowen, Sr. and his wife Candi, Plainville, IL; 2 daughters, Joyce E. Graham and her husband William, Hannibal, MO; Judy L. Nall, Quincy; 5 grandchildren, William Brent Graham, Hannibal; Sandra L. Cooper and her husband Donnie, Lentner, MO; Jenny Patton and her husband James, Holt Summit, MO; David Gasko and his wife Lisa, Quincy; Thomas L. Mowen, Jr., Quincy; 2 brothers, Howard Mowen and his wife Jill, Atlanta, GA; and Bobby Mowen and his wife Doris, Hannibal; 2 sisters, Virginia Steinman and her husband Wilbert, Hannibal and Mary "Billie" Long, Hannibal. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Eugene and 2 sisters Edna Ruth Hinkle and Vienna Gregory.

Funeral Services will be 1 P.M. Friday, April 2, at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with the Rev. E.W. Blumenkamp officiating. Burial in Quincy Memorial Park, Quincy, Illinois. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 PM Thursday at the funeral home. American Legion Post #37 will conduct military rites at the cemetery.
