Carol "Lois" Harberts, age 74, 1136 Edwin Street, Quincy, died Saturday, April 10, 2004 at 6:22 am at Blessing Hospital.
She was born April 30, 1929 in Clayton, Illinois, the daughter of Henry B. and Ruby Fierge Kaufman. On June 16, 1945, she married John H. Harberts in Golden, IL. He survives.
Mrs. Harberts worked for 31 years in the Meat Department of Eagle and National Food Stores. She retired in 1990. She was a member of Luther Memorial Church. Mrs. Harberts enjoyed her grandchildren, her great grandchildren, her family and friends.
Survivors in addition to her husband are a daughter, Sharon Kendall and her husband John D., Quincy; 2 sons, Steve Harberts and his wife Shari, Waukee, IA; and Michael Harberts and his wife Betty, Middletown, IL; 8 grandchildren, Michele Stinnett and her husband Kevin, Quincy; John Harberts and his wife Dawn, Chariton, IA; Heather Dennison, Quincy; Angie Vahle, Quincy; Chad Harberts, Decater, IL; Nicole Harberts, Ovida, FL; Kim Johnson, Springfield, IL; Jeremy Johnson, Middletown, IL; and 13 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 sisters Kathryn Haschemeyer and Irene Vance and a great granddaughter Alexandra Elizabeth Stinnett.
Funeral Services will be 11 A.M. Tuesday, April 13, at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, Kevin Stinnett officiating. Burial in Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 P.M. Monday at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home and Tuesday until time of services. Memorial contributions may be made to Salvation Army Quincy Endowment Fund or Blessing Foundation For Hospice.
