Gerald Gaskill

Gerald D. Gaskill, age 69, 1335 N. 3rd, Quincy, died Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at 11:10 p.m. in Blessing Hospital.

He was born July 21, 1934 in Chambersburg, Illinois, the son of Frederick D.and Hazel Hill Gaskill. On December 21, 1962, he married Wilene Boyd in Quincy. She survives.

Mr. Gaskill was a graduate of Versailles High School. He worked for Quincy Compressor (Colt Industries) for 36 years. He was a member of Faith Christian Church and the Eagles and was a former member of the Moose Lodge. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved hunting mushrooms.

Survivors in addition to his wife are his mother, Hazel Gaskill, Versailles; a daughter, Stacy Straube and her husband James, Quincy; a stepdaughter, Karen Peters, Quincy; a stepson, Stephen Gregory and his wife Linda, Plainfield, IL; 9 grandchildren, Jeremy Trenter and his wife Rebecca and Jake and Jamie Trenter, Quincy; Kirk Peters and his wife Renee, Nevada, TX; Sherry Kennedy and her husband Byron, Texas; Jennifer Peters, Springfield, IL; Barry Peters and his wife Melissa, with the U.S. Navy in Guam; Andrew Gregory, Sycamore, IL; Kenneth Gregory, Mesa, AZ; 7 great grandchildren, 2 sisters, Sharon Myers and her husband Kenneth, Versailles; Jeannette Harold, Versailles; 1 brother, Dwayne Gaskill, Abingdon, IL and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and a brother Dwight Gaskill.

Funeral Services will be 2 P.M. Saturday, July 24, at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, Rev. Henry Pratt officiating. Entombment in Quincy Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 PM Friday at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Christian Church.
