Darrell Kent Humphrey, Jr., 34, 2813 Golden Valley Road North, Minneapolis, (formerly of Quincy, IL) died Saturday, July 17, 2004 at 12:10 AM in North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale, MN.
He was born October 14, 1969 in Quincy, IL, the son of Sheila Humphrey and Darrell Kent Humphrey, Sr.
Darrell received his G.E.D. in Minneapolis, MN. and went on to receive a Diploma of Occupational Proficiency in Building Services and Contract cleaning at South Central Technical College. He had a love for music and was an avid rap artist. He had signed a contract with Dirty Thug Records with Armand "K.P." Ellis as Manager. He was a member of Union Baptist Church.
Survivors are his parents, Sheila Humphrey and Darrell Humphrey, Sr. and his wife Patricia; a daughter Nha' Kia Sharae' Williams of Minneapolis, MN; three sons Dameian Powell of Camp Point, IL: Brydon and Tyree White of St. Paul, MN; a sister Virginia Palmer (Weazy) of Atlanta, GA and her husband Jabbar; a brother Dustin Humphrey, a sister Ayala Humphrey both of Quincy; two step-sisters MaShonda Venard and her husband Les of Burlington, IA and Chanee' Parham of Hannibal, MO; a nephew Willliam Kwame Humphrey, a niece Leeyah Humphrey both of Quincy; a grandmother Carolyn Bell of Quincy; a special friend Lavina (Coco) Shannon of Minneapolis, MN. His extended family included Marion Wardeh of Macon, GA; Carmen Parr of St. Paul, MN; Bobby Parr of Milwaukee, WI and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by a sister Toshia Humphrey; grandparents Archie and Roberta Humphrey; a grandfather Eugene Clifford Bell and his extended brother "Tex" of St. Paul, MN.
Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 11 AM in the Hansen-Spear with the Reverends Cecil Fletcher, Orville Jones and Dan Humphrey officiating. Burial in Greenmount Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4 to 7 P.M. Friday at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hansen-Spear Funeral Home c/o Darrell Kent Humphrey, Jr. The repast will be held at All Saints Catholic Church Rectory, 715 Chestnut immediately after burial.
