Jerry Carlton Bartels, age 75, of 323 South 23rd, Quincy, died Friday, August 13, 2004 at 3:58 am in his home.
He was born March 25, 1929 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the son of Roy and Evelyn Hoffman Bartels. On June 13, 1964, he married Nancy Hulland in Villa Park, Illinois. She survives.
He was an accountant and Office Manager of Arrem Plastics in Addison, Illinois and retired in 1996. Jerry moved to Quincy in 1998 and was a member of the Vermont Street United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Men's Breakfast Group. He loved camping, rooting for the Green Bay Packers and participating in sports. He had formerly been very active at the Winfield Community United Methodist Church.
Survivors in addition to his wife are his step mother, Lois Bartels, Mountain Home, AR; his daughter, Katherine Walker, St. Ann, MO; 4 grandchildren, Megan Nickels, O'Fallon, MO; Shawn McCallum, Calico Rock, AR; Channa McCallum, Springfield, MO; Andrew McCallum, Aurora, MO; 4 great grandchildren; one step sister, Audrey Ellis, Perryville, AR; 2 step brothers, Peter Carveth, Mountain Home, AR and John Carveth, Lakewood, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Russell.
Funeral Services will be 1:30 pm Tuesday, August 17, 2004 at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, Rev. Lou Zuck officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-7 pm Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Wegener's Granulomatosis Association.
