Lloyd H. Vogt

Lloyd H. Vogt, 79, 1288 Lakeview Ct., Fowler, died Tuesday, August 31, 2004 at 9:43 p.m. at the Blessing Hospital.

He was born January 25, 1925 in Forrest, IL, the son of Henry and Vita Wallner Vogt.

On June 13, 1938, he married Betty Cash in St. John's Lutheran Church in Hannibal. She survives.

He was a graduate of West Ely Lutheran School and Renselear Missouri High School in 1943. He served in the U.S. Army from December 1944 until November 1946 where he saw action in the Asiatic/Pacific Theater.

Following high school, Lloyd was a farmer and then a mechanic in Palmyra before moving to Quincy in 1967. He was then a truck driver and mechanic for Doyle Equipment Company where he retired as a foreman in the blender department in 1992.

Lloyd was a member of St. James Evangelical Lutheran Church where he was an Elder and was active with the Building Expansion Group. He was also a member of Boots Dixon American Legion Post #174 in Palmyra.

Survivors in addition to his wife are two sons: Luther Vogt and his wife, Theresa, Quincy; Terry Vogt and his wife, Donna, Bellevue, NE; five grandchildren: Brandy and Andrew Vogt, Quincy; Jenna Vogt, Melbourne, FL; Tyler and Adam Vogt, Bellevue, NE.

He was preceded in death by his parents

Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 3, at the St. James Lutheran Church, Rev. Marlin R. Rempfer officiating. Burial in West Ely Cemetery, West Ely, IL. The family will receive friends from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. James Kids Connection andor St. Vincent's Activities Fund andor The American Cancer Society.
