Dorothy E. McClinthen, 77, 4202 South 6th, Melrose Twp., (formerly of 311 Radio Road) died Thursday, September 9, 2004 at 2:55 p.m. in the home of her step-daughter and husband David & Judy Hastings and grandson Alex David.
She was born August 24, 1927 in Rockport, Illinois, the daughter of William Henry and Laura Koch Bowen. She married Harold Mummey and he preceded her in death. On January 2, 1971 she married Clarence J. McClinthen in Quincy, Illinois. He preceded her in death on September 19, 2000.
She was employed at various places, but she retired from St. Mary Hospital after 15 years of loyal service. She enjoyed her grandchildren, traveling with her husband, gardening, reading and doing puzzels. Cooking was her passion.
She will be sadly missed by all who knew her - she was one of a kind.
Survivors include a step-daughter, Judith Hastings and her husband David, Quincy; 2 sons, Billy Lee Mummey and his wife Karen, Quincy and Harold D. Mummey, Oklahoma City, OK; 6 grandchildren, Gunney Sargeant William J. Kohl and his wife Tammy, Jacksonville, NC, Rhiahann Mummey, Oklahoma City, OK, John Mummey, Oklahoma, John E. Kohl, Alex D. Hastings, Bill Mummey, Jr., and Leigh Ann Stotts, all of Quincy; a sister, Helen Harness, Highland, IL; sister-in-law, Mary Bowen, a very special friend, Terry McIntosh who was at her side also at her time of death; great grandchildren, several nieces & nephews; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Ann and grandsons, Jessie John and Adam. She also was preceded in death by her parents, a son John E. Mummey, grandsons Chad and Randy Mummey, 3 brothers Pete, Earl and Raymond Bowen and a sister Ethel May Bowen.
Funeral Services will be Monday, 1 p.m. September 13, 2004 at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, Rev. Tom Waters officiating. Burial in Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois. The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. Sunday at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Blessing Foundation for Hospice or to the family.
