A. Lucille Vannier

A. Lucille (Kroner) Vannier, age 73, of Springfield, IL and formerly of Quincy died Friday, September 17, 2004 at 3:05 p.m in Memorial Hospital.

She was born January 12, 1931 in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of August L. and Leona Krueger Kroner, founders of the former Kroner Florist. On July 10, 1954, she married M. Thomas Vannier in St. Francis Church, Quincy. He preceded her in death.

Following graduation from Notre Dame High School, Mrs. Vannier attended Fontbonne College in St. Louis, MO before transferring to Quincy College where she graduated with a degree in Music Education. She taught elementary education in Brookfield, IL and the Washington D.C. area before again returning to Quincy to teach in several local catholic schools. Mrs Vannier was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi.

Survivors include 2 sons, Michael Vannier, San Ramon, CA; Kent Vannier, Conway, SC; 4 daughters, Elizabeth Bernzen, Blue Springs, MO; Jeanette Billeter, Kansas City, KS; Michelle Vannier and Renee' Kuhlman, both of Springfield, IL; 11 grandchildren, Clarissa, Thomas "TJ" and Jack Vannier, San Ramon, CA; Molly Vannier, Conway, SC; Stephen, Melissa and Kyle Bernzen, Blue Springs, MO; Nicholas and Andrea Billeter, Kansas City, KS; Victoria and Alexander Kuhlman, Springfield, IL; 7 nieces and nephews, and a sister, Kathleen Chipman, Kingwood, TX. She also was preceded in death by her parents and 2 sisters, Bernadette Kroner and Charlene Peacher.

Services will begin Tuesday, September 21, 2004 at 9:30 am with prayers at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, and with a mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church, Rev. John Doctor O.F.M. officiating. Visitation will be Monday evening from 4-7 pm at the funeral home with a Wake service at 6:30 pm. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Childrens PKU Network.
