Carl Andrew Kemner, age 52 of Peoria Heights, IL, and formerly of Quincy died Wednesday, November 24, 2004 at 9:25 pm in a car accident near Jacksonville, Illinois.
He was born June 21, 1952 in Quincy, Illinois, the son of William A. and Jennie Zimmerman Kemner.
He was a 1970 graduate of Christian Brothers High School and a 1975 Graduate of the University of Illinois, where he was the Big Ten Fencing Champion. He attended Kansas State University, where he received his masters in engineering.
He was employed by Dow Corning in Midland, MI, and later at Caterpillar Corporation in Peoria, IL. Currently, he was employed by Embedded Systems and Software, Inc. in Peoria. He was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church in Peoria Hts., North Prospect Neighborhood Association and the Dad's Association at the University of Illinois. He was elected to the QND Sports Hall of Fame in 2001.
Surviving are two daughters, Bridget Kemner of Newton, IL, Gretchen Kemner of Peoria Hts., IL; his mother, Jennie Kemner of Quincy; a brother, Thomas Kemner and his wife Alice of Quincy; four sisters, Martha Clynes and her husband William of St. Peters, MO, M. Bernadine Allen and her husband James of Peoria, IL, Rose Campbell and her husband Thomas of Liberty, IL, Carlene Boll and her husband Steve of Springfield, IL; his aunt, Carlene Kemner and his uncle Joe Zimmerman both of Quincy; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and his brother, Anthony "Tony" Kemner
Services will be held Saturday, Dec. 4, 2004 at 9:30 a.m. in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. in the St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church, Monsignor William Watson and Rev, James Wheeler O.F. M. officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Quincy. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 3rd from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home with a Wake Service at 6:30 p.m. A Memorial Mass will be held Sunday , Dec. 5, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. in St. Thomas Catholic Church, 904 East Lake Ave. in.Peoria Hts. IL. Memorial contributions may be made to the Daughters' Education Fund.
