Myron E." Mike" Lusk, age 87 of 2235 Cherry Lane Estates Quincy died Thursday, November 4, 2004 at 12 Midnight in Blessing Hospital.
He was born May 31, 1917 in Quincy, Illinois the son of Myron E.. and Eva Lieb Lusk, Sr. On September 5, 1942 he married Nadine C. Arp in St. Paul's Church in Quincy. She survives.
Mr. Lusk graduated from Quincy High School in 1935 and received his B. S. degree from Carthage College in 1940. After college Mr. Lusk joined Kalo Inoculant Company founded by his father in 1934. He became President/Research Director in 1955. In 1963, he was elected Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science based on his research in this field. In 1968, Kalo Inoculant was sold to Marion Laboratories, a pharmaceutical manufacturer of Kansas City, MO. Mr. Lusk became president of the new agricultural division and served on the Board of Directors of Marion. In 1973, he left Marion. Included in his later interests were consulting and industrial safety equipment. Mike was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ where he was president of the congregation and an elder. He was a member of Golden K Kiwanis, and a member and past president of the Mississippi Valley Council of Boy Scouts of America, Emeritus member of the American Chemical Society, the Society of American Bacteriologists, SCORE and American Association of the Advancement of Science.
Survivors in addition to his wife are 3 grandchildren, Deborah Wiley, New London, MO, Daniel Wiley, Louisiana, MO, Michael Wiley and his wife Gina, Hannibal, MO; son-in-law Larry Schutjer, Hannibal; 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by parents, a daughter Gail Schutjer and a brother Robert J. Lusk, killed in action in World War II
Services will be Monday, November 8, 2004 at 2:00 pm in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with the Rev. Timothy A. White officiating. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm. Memorial contributions may be made to the Good Samaritan Home Forward Way Fund.
