Robert Hurst, age 64 of 933 North 2550 Ave., Mendon, died Sunday, May 8, 2005 at 1:59 am in his home.
He was born June 24, 1940 in Maywood, MO the son of Clarence Gaines and Ruby Irene Leach Hurst. On March 3, 1962 he married Viola Woodward in Pittsfield, IL. She survives
He attended rural schools near Maywood, MO. He was employed by International Shoe Company and was maintenance supervisor at Trinity Industries for 40 years. He was a member of the Baptist faith and was a firm believer in God. He was an avid fisherman, camper and hunter and especially enjoyed gardening. He had a special love for animals and dogs especially his dog, "Molly" and his parrot, "HaHa".
Survivors include 2 daughters, Robyn Ann Lynn and her husband Timothy of Syracuse, MO, and Roberta Lynn Hurst of Loraine, IL; a son, Robert Lee Hurst, IL; a step daughter, Deborah Guthrie and her husband Eugene of Ursa, IL; six grandchildren, Melissa Sue Hurst, Robert Lee Hurst, III, Jeffrey Allen Hurst, Robert Allen Lee Hurst, Nathan M. Mast and Ryan L. Mas; two great-grandchildren, Alexis H. and Morgan R. Mast; four step grandchildren, James Logsdon and his wife Peggy, Daniel Logsdon and his wife Jammie, Mathew Logsdon and his wife Rosie, and Katie Guthrie; seven step great grandchildren, Cody, Zackary, Gavin, Carter, James, Jr., Gabrielle and Corbin Logsdon; two brothers, Jerry Hurst and his wife Gayle, Palmyra, MO and Richard Hurst, Quincy; one sister, Suzie Stierlin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a step daughter Delores "Jeannie" Reed, granddaughter Marie, 2 sisters, Leota Fern in infancy and Mary J. Lepper, and a brother Marvin.
Services will be Wednesday, May 11, 2005, 11:00 am in Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Harris officiating. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 11, 2005 from 9:30 am - 11:00 am. Memorials may be made to Blessing Foundation for Hospice.
