Robert M. Meyer

Robert M. "Bob" Meyer, age 69 of Canton, MO died Sunday, July 17, 2005 at 10:00 p.m. in his residence after a long battle with cancer.

He was born September 22, 1935 in Quincy, Illinois the son of Chester and Lillie Stalf Meyer. On November 30, 1957 he married Nancy Ellis in Mt. Sterling, IL. She survives.

Mr. Meyer lived and farmed in Adams Co., Gilmer Township for 40 years. He especially enjoyed working in the timber on the farm. Mr. Meyer belonged to the Teamster's Union. He was a driver and loader for several bakeries. In later years he worked as a security guard. Mr. Meyer was a member of the Army Reserves. He was an active member of the Immanuel United Methodist Church of Canton, MO. He loved his family very much and enjoyed spending time with them. He and his wife enjoyed travelling and spent many happy days roaming around the states.

Survivors include 1 son, Robert M. Meyer and his wife Judy of Hubert, NC, 2 daughters, Teresa (Susie) Jones of Maywoood, MO, Lori DeLonjay and her husband Henry of Quincy, 10 grandchildren Craig Meyer and his wife Jessica, Melissa Chanthip and her husband Meow, Steven Delonjay, Abby Jones all of Quincy, Logan Logsdon of Maywood, MO, Jason, Justin, Jared, Joseph and Jessica Meyer of Hubert, NC, 5 great grandchildren Caitlynn and Chloe Chanthip, Jocelyn, Ciera and Isabella Meyer,1 nephew, Alan Meyer of Quincy. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Chester Meyer, a sister Althea (Tudie) Wiskirchen and a niece.

Services will be Wednesday at 1:00 pm in Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with Stacy Nicholas officiating. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 4-7 pm at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Blessing Foundation for Hospice, Immanuel United Methodist Church, Canton, MO or Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church of Liberty, IL.
