LeRoy Douglas Hamilton

LeRoy Douglas Hamilton, age 23, of San Jose, California, and formerly of Quincy, IL, passed away on August 19, 2005, after a short illness.

He was born in Quincy on July 3, 1982 to LeRoy William Hamilton and Melva Denise Douglas-Hamilton. He resided in San Jose for almost 20 years.

LeRoy graduated from the California School for the Deaf in Fremont California in June 2001, and attended Ohlone Junior College in Fremont receiving his two year certificate in the Workability Program. He was an active member in the Deaf Community in San Jose and was employed by HOPE Rehabilitation Services and Specialized Bicycle in Gilroy, CA. Leroy loved the Lord with all his heart and was an active member of the Cathedral of Faith Church in San Jose, California.

He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandfathers, LeRoy William Hamilton, Sr., and Melvin Douglas.

He is survived by his parents of San Jose, CA, two sisters, one brother and their families; Ms. Danyelle Douglas, of Naperville, IL and son Daniel, Mrs. James (Deena) Mosley of Florissant, MO and their children, Tranese, Alonzo, JaPrea, and LaNai, and Mr. Kyle (Marilyn) Hunter of Schenectady, NY and their children, Chelsea, Cortez, and Cameron.

Also surviving are his Grandmothers, Cladine Douglas of Quincy, IL (maternal) and Eleanor Johnson of Bronx, NY (paternal) a great-grandmother, Mrs. Golda Manley of Canton, MO (maternal), a great-aunt Mrs. Sarah Davis of Chicago, IL (maternal), and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held at The Crossing Church located at 48th & Maine St., Quincy, IL on Saturday, August 27, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be on Friday, August 26, 2005 from 3:00-7:00 pm at Hansen Spear Funeral Home. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois. Memorials may be made to Parodi Trust Fund, California School for the Deaf.
