A. William "Bill" Redman, Jr., age 82 of 201 Knollwood, Quincy, died Friday, August 12, 2005 at 2:20 am in the Illinois Veterans Home.
He was born July 12, 1923 in Richfield, IL the son of Aura William and Esta McCarl Redman. He married Norma Tucker in 1952 and she preceded him in death in 1968. In September of 1973 he married June Redman in Quincy. She survives.
He was a 1940 graduate of Liberty High School, and he attended Western Illinois University. Bill served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII, and farmed for himself until 1954. He was a beef and poultry foreman at Moorman Research Farm for 28 years until his retirement in 1985.
He was a member of Vermont Street United Methodist Church where he was in charge of the flower garden. He was a former member of Plainville Masonic Lodge and Ansar Shrine. Bill was an avid horseman and really loved to be around his grandchildren.
Survivors also include two daughters, Dawn Terkla and her husband David of Arlington, MA; Fae Jones and her husband Charles of Quincy; 8 grandchildren, Michael Terkla and his wife Kellee of Medford, MA; Heather Terkla of Arlington, MA; Jennifer Hernandez of Highland Ranch, CO; Emely Hernandez of Greeley, CO; Robert Hernandez of Quincy; Brian Jones and his wife Vicki of New Lenox, IL; David Jones of Lexington Park, Maryland; Beth Jones of New Lenox, IL; a great grandchild, Brandon Jones, New Lenox, IL; a sister, Marjorie Cleaves of Springfield, IL, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Rachel Likes, a brother, John Redman, and a brother-in-law, Lozelle Cleaves.
Funeral services will be Monday, August 15, 2005, at 2 pm in Vermont Street United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Shiloh Cemetery, Plainville, IL. Visitation will be Monday from 1-2 pm at the church. Memorials may be made to Altrusa International of Quincy Foundation, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or Vermont Street United Methodist Church Fill the Block Campaign.
