Elizabeth N. "Betty" Gillhouse, 90, formerly of 1103 S. 22nd, Quincy died Sunday, September 4, 2005 at her home in Glen Ellyn, IL.
She was born April 20, 1915 in Versailles, Illinois, the daughter of Howard and Nelle Robinson. On May 28, 1938, she married Robert F. Gillhouse in Quincy, Illinois. He preceded her in death on April 18, 2001.
Betty was a graduate of Quincy High School and attended Quincy College. She was a teacher in Quincy and worked at MoorMan Manufacturing Company during World War II. She devoted the majority of her life to being a devoted wife, home-maker and loving mother.
She was a member of Vermont Street United Methodist Church and the Kum Dubl Sunday School Class.
Survivors are 3 children, Larry Gillhouse and his wife Janet, Davenport, IA; twins Martha Niehoff and her husband James, Enumclaw, WA and David Gillhouse and his wife Maureen, Wheaton, IL; 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Services will be held 11 am Friday, September 9, 2005 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with Chaplain Steve Disseler officiating. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois. The family will receive friends from 4-7 pm Thursday at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Red Cross (Hurricane Katrina relief) or St. Michael Catholic Church (Wheaton, IL) building fund.
