Ralph Baker

Ralph Baker, age 89, of Payson, Illinois died Thursday, March 13, 2014 at 3:26 pm in Blessing Hospital.

He was born November 19, 1924 in Payson, Illinois the son of Fred Baker and Dora Keil Baker. On December 31, 1953 he married Helen Dieterle in Quincy. She preceded him in death on June 1, 2010.

He was a farmer all his life, an independent trucker, and employed by Moorman Mfg. for 12 years. He was a member of Bluff Hall Evangelical Free Church and was a member of the Ansar Shrine Mini-mule hitch.

A lifetime area farmer, Ralph was known as a good neighbor, great family man, hard worker, and an instant friend to everyone he met. Animals loved Ralph, and his way with them was a source of amazement for all. People and the animals that knew him will all truly miss his presence.

Survivors include: a son, Paul Alvin (Patricia) Baker of Utah; 3 daughters, Linda (Kevin) Reed, Kim (Loren) Farr and Nancy Morris, all of Quincy; 11 grandchildren, Stuart Baker of Logan, Utah, Sherry Baker of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Kelsey Reed of Chicago, Illinois, Callie Reed of West Palm Beach, Florida, Matt Farr of Monticello, Missouri, Adam (Kendell) Farr and Jacob and Sammy Farr, all of Quincy, Rachel Morris of Brighton, Colorado, Danielle Morris and Gabriel Lucio, both of Quincy; 2 great grandchildren, Marshall and Sylas Farr of Quincy; 3 sisters, Charlotte Nesbit of Payson, Illinois Gladys Walz of Arkansas, and Ruth Phillips of Augusta, Illinois; a brother, Lester Baker of Quincy

He was also preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Alvin Donald Baker, and a sister Velma Kuntemeier.

Services: 1:00 pm Saturday at Bluff Hall Evangelical Free Church with Ralph Fairchild officiating.

Visitation: Immediately following the service at Bluff Hall Church.

Memorials: Bluff Hall Church or Bluff Hall Cemetery
