Terry Dean McDowell

Terry Dean McDowell, age 64, of 828 North 4th, Quincy, died Thursday, December 8, 2005 at 12:10 pm in Bowling Green, MO.

He was born October 21, 1941 in Keokuk, Iowa the son of Ernest and Betty Kerr McDowell. He married Evelyn Taute on August 7, 1976 in Quincy. She survives.

He was a graduate of Keokuk High School and served in the U. S. Air Force. He was a union carpenter for several years and worked several other jobs until his retirement in December of 2003. He drove for B & W Truck Salvage part time since his retirement. Mr. McDowell was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church. He enjoyed anything to do with cars and camping and also loved spending time with his family and friends.

Survivors besides his wife include his mother Betty McDowell of Keokuk, Iowa; 2 sons Louis Clark and his wife Teresa of Keokuk; Matthew McDowell of Quincy; and a daughter, Terri Helm of Lansing, MI; 7 grandchildren, Andy Clark of Aurora, CO; Brian Clark of Keokuk; Tim and Tony McCarty of Keokuk; Whitney and Tyler McCarty of Lansing, MI; Evita Helm of Lansing, MI; 2 great grandchildren, Conner McCarty and Michael Morgan; a sister, Susan Geltz and her husband Bruce of Argyle, Iowa and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by by his father, 2 brothers, Michael Lee and Steven Douglas McDowell, and a son-in-law Richard Helm.

Services will be Monday, December 12, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. in Our Redeemer Lutheran Church with the Rev. Larry Troxel officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday 3 to 6 p.m. at the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church or the American Diabetes Association.
