John L. Schick

John L. Schick , age 70, of 919 South 18th, died Friday, November 24, 2006 at 8:20 am. in Blessing Hospital.

He was born June 10, 1936 in Rock Falls, IL the son of Charles and Elizabeth Strandell Schick. On August 16, 1968 he married Marian Forden in Aurora, Illinois. She preceded him in death on December 12, 2001.

He was a corporal in the U.S. Marine Corps from Sept. 2, 1954 - Sept. 1, 1957. He worked at Morgan Linen Service in Aurora until he moved to Quincy in 1981. In Quincy he was employed at the Illinois Veterans Home in the dietary department for 17 years until his retirement. Most recently he worked for Century 21 Zanger and Century 21 Awerkamp and Hays as a sign installer.

He was a member of Twin Oaks and Rocky Point Clubs and the Teamsters. He loved to fish and was an avid car enthusiast.

Survivors also include three daughters, Judy Kendrick and husband Ron, Mendon; Cary Hammond and husband Jim, Montgomery, IL; Mary Jane Kadlec and husband Steve, Aurora, IL; son, John David Schick and wife Denise, Aurora, IL; close companion, Barb Bornman, Quincy and her daughter Missy, St. Louis; 12 grandchildren, Jason Mooneyham, Quincy: Orlando Rivera, Quincy; Jeremy, Kevin and Christopher Hammond, all of Montgomery, IL; Stephen and Brandon Kadlec, both of Aurora, IL; John K. Schick, Aurora, IL; Chelsey Howard, Ursa, IL; Jessica Kendrick, Marceline, IL, and Scott and Dan Hayward, Aurora, IL; 6 great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Charles and Betty Schick; Doug and Louise Schick, and William and Phyllis Schick; 4 sisters, Betty and John Tautz; Carol Ackerson and Carl, Joann Wickes; Virginia and Charles Herbon; numerous nieces and nephews including a special niece, Jennifer Wheeler. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Theodore.

Services will be Tuesday, November 28, 2006, at 10 am in Hansen-Spear Funeral Directors with Rev. Jeske officiating. Visitation will be Monday from 5-7 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sunset Cemetery. Memorials made to the family in his name would be appreciated. Following the committal service a gathering of friends will meet at the Twin Oaks Club, Quincy.
