William R. Allen

William R. Allen, age 63, of 9603 Rock Quarry Road, died Monday, February 26, 2007 at 2:25 am in Blessing Hospital.

He was born July 27, 1943 in Quincy, IL the son of Wilbur R. and Dorothy Wittler Allen. On September 11, 1965 he married Linda Duesdieker in Quincy.

He worked for Sparks and Wiewel Construction for 30 years. After his retirement he and his wife ran a small craft business called "Allens Crafts". In his spare time he loved racing go-carts, bowling, trap-shooting, and playing horse shoes. He was the 1985 class D state horse shoe champ. Most of all he loved spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife of Quincy, and his step-mother, Marge Allen of Green Valley, IL; a son, W. Todd Allen of Quincy; a daughter, Tracie Quincy and her husband Mike of Liberty; 3 brothers, David Sapp and his wife Nancy of Quincy; Mike Allen and his wife Vicky of Manito, IL, and Danie J. Allen of Green Valley, IL; 5 sisters, Joyce Riggs of Quincy, Carol Rupert and her special friend Mike Cramsey of Quincy; Cindy McHatton and her husband Gerald of Quincy; Bonnie Hoskinson and her husband Ronald of Pekin, IL; and Tamie Fornoff and her husband Mike of Manito, IL; and 7 grandchildren, Jessica, Tyler & Katie Quincy of Liberty; Alexis, Daxton & Jennifer Allen of Quincy, and Lauren Allen of Springfield, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Earl Sapp; and a brother Daniel Sapp.

Services will be Thursday (March 1) at 11 a.m. in the Hansen Spear Funeral Home with the Rev. Jan Bengtson officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 until 7 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greenmount Cemetery. Memorials made to Blessing Cancer Center or Quincy Humane Society in his name would be greatly appreciated.
