Alfred W. Ehrhardt

Alfred W. Ehrhardt, age 95 of Good Samaritan Home and formerly of 8426 White Oak Rd., died Thursday, September 13, 2007 at 5:55 a.m. in Good Samaritan Home.

He was born December 14, 1911 in Melrose Twp., the son of John Philip and Frances Dietrich Ehrhardt. He married Janet Miller on June 18, 1938 in Palmyra, MO. She survives. They celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary reminiscing how they met at a platform dance in Burton, Illinois.

Mr. Ehrhardt was born on his family farm. His father purchased the farm in 1904 and in the year 2004 the farm was designated as a Centennial Farm as the farm has been in the Ehrhardt family for over 100 years. The Centennial Farm was something that Mr. Ehrhardt was very proud of. Mr. Ehrhardt and his Wife were engaged in farming their entire life time. Mr. Ehrhardt attended White Oak School and St. Anthony's School. He also attended auto mechanic school and later took over the farming operation from his father. Mr. Ehrhardt served on the Board for Mt. Carmel School and also the White Oak School. He was also a Co-founder/owner of the original Sheridan Swim Club. He was a member of St. Anthony Church.

Survivors also include; 3 daughters, Sharon Dittmer of Winter Park, FL, Donna Simmons and her husband Michael of Golden, CO, and Janie Fischer and her husband D.D. of Quincy; 9 grandchildren, Lori Cornwell and her husband Neal of Quincy, Lynn Sawyer and her husband Tom of Winter Park, FL, Doug Dittmer of Ponce Inlet, FL, Lesa Taylor and her husband Toby of San Diego, CA, Dustin Dittmer of Winter Springs, FL, Nicole McChesney and her husband Don of Miramar, FL, Nathan Simmons and his wife Karyn of Carbondale, CO, Ryan Fischer of Kansas City, MO, and Michael Fischer of Chicago, IL; 16 great grandchildren, Nicole, Scott, and Matthew Cornwell of Quincy, Kristin, Tommy and Rebecca Sawyer of Winter Park, FL, Gabrielle and D.J. Dittmer of Ponce Inlet, FL, Adam, Dylan, and Lea Taylor of San Diego, CA, Donny, Nicholas, Emma and Michael McChesney of Miramar, FL, and Fritz Simmons of Carbondale, CO; 1 great great grandchild, Haley Woodyard of Quincy; 1 Godchild, Linda Vineyard of Gallaway, OH; 3 sisters-in-law, Mary Chase and her husband Bob of Tavares, FL, Phyllis Brueggeman and her husband Joe of Camp Point, IL, and Lucy Miller of Golden, IL; 4 brothers-in-law, Francis Miller and his wife Gladys of Quincy, Otis Miller and his wife Dorothy of Quincy, Luther Miller and his wife Georgene of Harrisonville, MO, and Don Miller and his wife Shirley of Hannibal, MO. He was also preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers Wilfred, Edward, and Jerome Ehrhardt and 2 sisters; Isabelle Stupavsky and Eleanor Willer, 6 brothers-in-law; Robert, Russell, Herbert, and William Miller, Leo Stupavsky, and Bert Willer, 3 sisters-in-law; Stella Ehrhardt, Ethel Miller and Florence Miller.

Services will be Sunday at 1 p.m. in Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with the Chaplain Steve Disseler officiating, graveside services will follow at the family farm. Visitation will be Saturday 2 - 5 p.m. at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home. Memorials made to Good Samaritan Home, Blessing Foundation for Hospice or St Anthony's Cemetery Fund in his name would be appreciated.
