Theresa L. McCarthy, age 78 of 331 Evergreen Dr., East, Quincy died Saturday, November 24, 2007 at 8:05 a.m. in St. Vincent's Home of Quincy.

She was born November 16, 1929 in Syracuse, New York the daughter of Simon Leo and Yvonne Marie Joncas Dixon. On March 31, 1951 she married Harry J. McCarthy in Catholic Cathedral of Immaculate Conception in Syracuse, N.Y. He survives.

Mrs. McCarthy attended St. Patrick's grade school and graduated from St. Lucy's Academy in Syracuse, the class of 1947. She was employed at New York Telephone Co.,before moving to Quincy where she worked for Illinois Bell, Harris Broadcast and Sears. She retired in 1987. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, where she was a minister of praise. She was also a member of the Elks Auxiliary.

Survivors also include a daughter, Susan M. McCarthy of Kirkland, WA, a daughter, Carol Gerzsenye and her husband David of Redmond, WA, a son, Thomas L. "Driver Tom" McCarthy of Elgin, IL, a daughter, Mary Beth Cramm and her husband Kent of Mendon, IL, and a daughter, Maureen Broussalian and her husband Henri of Geneva, Switzerland. Grandchildren include Ryan Richards of Kirkland, WA, Adam and Kelly Glenn of Redmond, WA., Ross and Cole Cramm of Mendon, IL; and Nicholas and Max Broussalian of Switzerland. Her sisters including Anna Marie Burns, Patricia Gasparini and her husband Peter, Judy Ann Kenyon and her husband David, all of Syracuse, N.Y. and a sister-in-law Alyce Dixon. She was preceded in death by her parents,a brother Robert Dixon and a son Harry James "Jimmy" McCarthy, III.

Services will be Thursday, November 29th at 11 a.m. in the Church of St. Peter with the Rev. Dan Bergbower officiating. Visitation will be Thursday morning from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with prayers at 10:30 a.m. Private family inurnment will be in Sunset Cemetery at a later date. Memorials made to St. Vincent's Nursing Home in her name would be appreciated. Hansen-Spear Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
