Shirley Ann Howell, age 79, of 1100 Ohio, died Monday, April 28, 2008 at 4:30 p.m. in Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
She was born September 29, 1928 in Quincy, Illinois the daughter of Louis Leo and Cecile Owsley Hudson. On January 4, 1947 she married Lee Howell in Quincy. He survives.
She was a 1946 graduate of Quincy High School and a 1977 graduate of the Quincy School of Practical Nursing. Shirley was a Licensed Practical Nurse at the Illinois Veterans' Home for 13 years.
Shirley was a member of Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ, the Elks, and the Purple Ladies Group. She loved to make people laugh, and she loved to travel. Nobody could cook like her!
Survivors also include her daughter, Lee Ann Burton and her husband Thomas of Round Rock, TX; her son, Tyler Brett Howell and his wife Audrey of rural Adams County; a granddaughter, Anne Devlin Burton of Round Rock, TX; 2 brothers, Larry Keith Hudson of Peru, IN; and Louis Leo Hudson and his wife Sheri of Springfield, IL; 3 sisters, Phyllis Yoe of Shelby, NC; Patricia Hudson Graeser and her husband Ronald of Morrison, CO; and Candace "Kakoo" Hudson Willing and her husband Richard K "Butch" of Quincy; and 10 nieces and 7 nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister-in-law Oma Hudson, and a brother-in-law William Yoe.
Services: 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 5, 2008, at Salem Evangelical United Church of Christ with the Rev. Wanda Seydel officiating.
Visitation: There will be no visitation but friends are invited to the services.
