Marilyn I. Hendren, age 83, of Barry Community Care Center, formerly of 3211 Lindell, died Sunday, June 1, 2008 at 6:00 p.m. in Blessing Hospital.

She was born July 18, 1924 in Quincy, Illinois the daughter of Roy Charles and Cecil E. Pence Hillman. On July 6, 1944 she married Dale A. Hendren in Canton, Missouri. He preceded her in death on January 6, 1996.

She was a 1942 graduate of Quincy High School and attended Culver-Stockton College. She had been a deputy circuit clerk for the Adams County Circuit Clerk's Office. She was also a volunteer at the Blessing Hospital Tea Room.

Marilyn enjoyed a variety of hobbies including calligraphy, ceramics, china painting, knitting, music, and dancing. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her family, whom she loved very much.

She was a member of Vermont Street United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two sons, Charles "Chuck" Hendren and his wife, Arlene, of Quincy and Stephen Hendren of Springfield, IL; and eight grandchildren: Ashleigh Stratton, Britni Stratton, Mallori Hendren, and Lucas Hendren all of Springfield and Staff Sgt. Kyle Harbison and his wife, Rachael, of Grand Forks Air Force Base, ND; Michael Harbison of St. Charles, MO; and Anthony and Allen Hendren both of Quincy; and a great-grandson, Beau Harbison.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter, Laura Jean.

Services: Sunday, June 8, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with the Rev. Lou Zuck officiating. Inurnment will be in Quincy Memorial Park on Monday, June 9, 2008 at 2:00 p.m.

Visitation: Sunday from 1-3 p.m. at the funeral home.
