Betty Greer

Betty Jene Greer, age 79, of 723 N. 3rd St., went to be with her Lord Friday, October 3, 2008 in Blessing Hospital Emergency Room.

She was born February 14, 1929 in Frankford, Missouri the daughter of John and Elsie M. Ruby Nelson. On October 31, 1947 she married V. E. 'Gene' Greer in Hannibal, MO. He survives.

She was a graduate of Rensselaer High School and Gem City Business College. Betty worked at Kresges, J. C. Penney, and the Quincy Clinic. She was a secretary at Columbus Road Baptist Church School. She was a member of Columbus Road Baptist church. Betty loved gardening and animals. She loved to attend her grandchildren's events as they were growing up as well as those of other children whom she knew.

Survivors include her son, Ron Greer and wife Nancy of Quincy, IL, and 2 grandchildren, Kristen and Zach Greer, both of Quincy; a brother, John Nelson and wife Donna of Quincy, IL, and a sister, Leona Hill and husband Leo of Hannibal, MO; several nieces and nephews; two half brothers-in-law, Marvin Houser of Hannibal, MO, and Raymond Houser of Cuba, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Bonnie Sue Dohrn.

Services: 11:00 am Tuesday, October 7, 2008, at Columbus Road Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Cowman and Rev. S. D. Bodwell officiating. Burial will be in Quincy Memorial Park.

Visitation: 4-7 pm Monday at Hansen-Spear
