Shirley Ann Grant, age 77, of Payson, died Tuesday, October 28, 2014, at 8:55 am in Good Samaritan Home.
Shirley was born December 13, 1936 in Princeton, Indiana, the daughter of James and Twila Creek Hughes. She married Rev. L. D. Grant on March 4, 1955 in Princeton, IN. He survives
Shirley was a graduate of Princeton High School. Throughout her life, Shirley was heavily involved in her church. She taught Sunday School for many years, developed several church libraries, was a ladies missionary leader, ladies banquet speaker, and also led women's Bible studies. Additionally, Shirley served as secretary for several churches.
In her spare time, Shirley enjoyed traveling. She also loved flowers and loved getting presents from her husband.
In addition to her husband, survivors include four children: Luann Hirsch of Boynton Beach, FL; Sheila Grant of Grand Rapids, MI; Rachael Albsmeyer of Quincy; David (Stacy) Grant of Quincy; three grandchildren, Cara and Erin Cooper of Boynton Beach, FL, and Maddison Garner of Quincy; and a sister-in-law, Mildred (James) Wolfe of Farmington Falls, ME.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers: Wheeler, Sherman, and Ted Hughes; and a sister, Betty Wellborn.
Services: 2:00 pm Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Calvary Baptist Church, with Rev. L.D. Grant officiating.
Burial: Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois
Visitation: 10:00 am - 12:00 pm, Saturday November 1, 2014 at Calvary Baptist Church`
