Richard O. "Dick" Brinkmeyer, age 82, of Quincy, died Wednesday, March 18, 2015, at 6:30 pm in Good Samaritan Home.
Richard was born April 24, 1932 in Quincy, Illinois, the son of Orien John and Meta Herren Brinkmeyer. He married Shirley Hauter on October 9, 1954 in St. James Lutheran Church in Quincy. She survives.
He graduated from Quincy High School in 1950. After high school Dick served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict, where he and his wife lived in Germany for two years. He returned to Quincy to attend Gem City Business College.
Dick was employed at Electric Wheel for 25 years as a Purchasing Agent, before working part time as a realtor. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, and Cedar Crest Country Club, where he was an avid golfer. In August, 2014 he went on a Honor Flight to Washington. Dick loved to travel, especially to Colorado and Arizona. He was a sports enthusiast who followed Blue Devil Basketball and St. Louis Cardinal Baseball.
In addition to his wife, Dick is survived by four children, Mark Brinkmeyer of Quincy, Jill (Ted) Adams of Quincy, Brian Brinkmeyer of Chesterfield, MO, and David (Michele) Brinkmeyer of Arnold, MO; two grandchildren, Rich (Erin) Adams and Ben (Sarah) Adams, both of Quincy; two step grandchildren, Sarah Bottila and Adam Bottila, both of Arnold, MO; a sister-in-law, Pat (Joe) Bibler of Arizona; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Robert Brinkmeyer, and two sisters in childhood.
Services: 10:30 am Monday, March 23, 2015 at St. James Lutheran Church, with Rev. Marlin Rempfer and Rev. Mike Fieberkorn officiating
Inurnment: Greenmount Cemetery with military rites
Visitation: 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm, Sunday March 22, 2015 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home
Memorials: St. James Lutheran School or Great River Honor Flight
