James L. "Jim" Prewitt, Sr., age 46, of Quincy, died Friday, May 8, 2015, at 5:25 am in his home.
Jim was born May 22, 1968 in Quincy, Illinois, the son of Mary W. Achilles and James D. Prewitt, Jr.. He married Tracy Klossing on December 5, 1987 in Hannibal, Missouri. She survives.
Jim was a hard working mechanic. He was employed at Sharkey Transportation for 20 years. He liked working on his 1970 blue Camaro with his boys.
Jim also enjoyed bowling with his family, as well as fishing and shooting guns. He was a history buff and especially loved military history. Jim loved baseball. He coached his son's baseball teams and was a die hard Chicago Cub's fan.
He cherished his grandkids and loved every moment he spent with them.
Survivors in addition to his wife include, his three children, James (Kayla Marie) Prewitt, Jr. of Palmyra, MO, Kristen Nicole Prewitt and Kenneth James Prewitt, both of Quincy; two step-children, Jeremiah Allen (Amie) Humke of Fort Hood, TX, and Megan Renee (Nick Hummel) Kistner of Quincy; two grandchildren, Owen Nathaniel Boward and Brody Jeremiah Kistner; his mother, Mary W. (Gene) Stice of Quincy, his grandmother, Wanda Sparrow of Liberty, IL; a brother, Chris (Stephanie) Prewitt of Quincy; two sisters-in-law, Theresa (Gene) Huddleston and April (Vickie Gerhardt) Klossing, both of Quincy, IL; a brother-in-law, Kenneth (Kim Stubblefield) Klossing of Quincy, IL; an aunt, Pat Friday of Liberty; and several aunts, nieces and nephews.
James was preceded in death by his father.
Services: 1:00 pm Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with Dorinda Davis officiating.
Burial: Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois
Visitation: 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Tuesday May 12, 2015 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home
