Sandra Marie Miller, age 58, of Quincy, went to be with Jesus on Monday, July 6, 2015, at 8:15 am in her home, with her family by her side.
Sandy was born October 9, 1956 in Quincy, Illinois, the daughter of Carl and Rita Schnier Nelson. She married Larry E. Miller on November 3, 1979 in Quincy. He preceded her in death on March 27, 2011.
Sandy was a graduate of Quincy High School. She graduated as an RN with an Associates degree in nursing from John Wood Community College. Sandy worked for Blessing Hospital for 32 years, mostly working in the ICU.
She enjoyed quilting and china painting, where she painted Christmas ornaments for her grandchildren. She was a member of the Quincy China Painters. Sandy loved to travel with Larry, as well as canning and pickling produce from their garden. Sandy loved being around dogs, and loved rescuing and adopting Australian Shepherds. Sandy was a wonderful Mama to her baby girl, Jennifer.
Sandy wanted those that she worked with at Blessing Hospital to know that she loved them. She also wants the nurses and staff of Blessing Cancer Center and Blessing Hospice to know that she appreciated and loved them. Also, that they were all so wonderful to her.
Sandra is survived by a daughter, Jennifer M. (Thomas) Begner of Columbus, IN; four siblings, Donna Briggs, of Quincy, Stephen (Neva) Nelson, of Quincy, Lisa (Steve) Ballard, of Glendale, AZ, and Ronald (Sandy) Nelson, of Payson, IL; nine grandchildren, Brian, Andrew, Eric, Samantha, Casey, Rebecca, Matthew, Cami, and Brandon Begner, all of Columbus, IN; two great grandchildren, Thomas Chelf and Rilee Elliott, both of Columbus, IN; an adopted son, James (Kristy) Kirtley of TN; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews; and a life long furry friend, Cubby.
In addition to her husband, Sandra was preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law, Bob Briggs
Visitation: 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm, Friday July 10, 2015 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home
Services: 3:00 pm Friday, July 10, 2015 at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, with Rev. Larry Smith officiating.
Inurnment: Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois
In Lieu of flowers the family would like to have bags of dog food be brought to Hansen-Spear Funeral Home or donate to KRAH Pet Food Pantry, as was done when her husband, Larry, passed away.
