Josephine Anna Mallory

Josephine Anna Mallory, 87, of Quincy, Illinois, went to the Lord on Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2016 at Blessing Hospital. She was born December 7th, 1928, in Quincy. The daughter of Theodore and Anna Young Nixon, Josephine resided in Quincy her entire life. Josephine had three siblings, Dorothy Nixon, Pauline Nixon and Fay Tate. On May 7th, 1951, she married her husband of 45 years, Harry Lee Mallory. He passed before her on September 8th, 1996.

She cherished everyday with her three children, Vicki, Sheila, and Brenda Mallory. She finished an education at the Poro Beauty School as a beautician, and cared for her family and grandparents. Josephine became a member of the Church of Christ on July 21st, 1987. Josephine also had a passion for painting, as well as cooking over the years. She stayed true to her faith and always read her bible.

She is survived by two daughters, Vicki and Brenda Mallory, both of Quincy; three grandchildren, Joshua Humphrey and his father Dean Humphrey, Victoria and Brianna Jack of Kissimmee, FL, as well as their father Walter Jack; and numerous nieces and nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore George Nixon, Anna Young Nixon; grandparents George and Savannah Nixon, siblings Pauline and Dorothy Nixon, and Fay J.Tate; her daughter, Sheila Mallory-Jack, and her husband Harry Lee Mallory.

Visitation will be at 11AM to 1PM on January 18th, 2016, at The Church of Christ in Quincy, IL. Services will occur at 1 PM, and the burial will be at Greenmount Cemetery. Any memorials are to be directed to the Quincy Church of Christ.

"I would often meet Josephine in the lobby after Sunday worship. She was always kind and encouraging to me. Yet what I remember most are the times that she would say with a very serious tone that she had learned something or that she needed to hear that lesson. I was delighted that even as she was advanced in age, her heart was tender and she was open to the Word of God. What a wonderful example."
