Julia Pettit

Julia M. Pettit, age 83, of 639 York Street, Quincy, died Monday (March 28, 2016) at 3:54 a.m. in the Senior Center.

Julia was born January 23, 1933 in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Edward C. and Thelma H. Trout Wind. She married Carl Dale Pettit in 1951 St. Louis, Missouri. He preceded her in death in 1981.

Julia graduated from McKinley High School in St. Louis in 1951. She was a 1967 graduate of St. Mary's Nursing School and a 1985 graduate of Palm Springs College.

Julia was employed as a nurse at St. Mary Hospital in Quincy for 14 years. She was a Chemical Dependency Therapist at the Betty Ford Center in Palm Springs, California for 16 years. Julia also served as the Director of Administration at Michael's House in Palm Springs for four years.

Julia was a member of Luther Memorial Church in Quincy. She loved gardening and roses.

Survivors include two children, Michael (Terrie) Pettit of Quincy, IL, and Robyn (Harry) Neal of Kansas City, MO; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Jerry (Mable) Wind of Alton, IL; brother-in-law, Jim (Barb) Pettit of Quincy; a special friend, Ty Hargate of Palm Springs, CA; nieces and nephews; and her dog, Hope.

In addition to her husband, Julia was preceded in death by her parents, a son, James Pettit, a daughter, Denise Pettit, and a great-grandson, Caden Thomas.

Services: A private inurnment will be held at Greenmount Cemetery.
